Last year I decided to bite the bullet and make a queen size quilt for my bed, in my favourite foundation pieced log cabin, and using the qayg method, in three panels. I used scaps of pinks and blues and quite a few bits from old girls clothes, which means there are embroidered Barbie bits, a few sequins and machine embroidered flowers in there. The backing is just larger pieces of fabric joined together in irregular strips, so the only outlay was for the wadding. It's just big enough to cover the mattress and the bed ruffle covers the base. Occasionally I have to wash it after Puss rubs her soil covered fur on it lol.
