Easiest Thing Ever

I've been using an ugly mouse pad for so long I didn't notice it any more.  So I re-covered it with a piece of fabric by vliesofixing it down with an iron.  It took 5 minutes and I kind of like the feel of the fabric.  Done!

Upcycling

I love these quick little jobs.  A new cover for a footstool, made from an old doona cover bought at a garage sale.  There was so much fabric in it, I'm thinking of other projects to use it for.  I have to wait for my awful flu to go away first though.

Dressmaking

New season, new clothes.  I particularly like the purple self stripe.  Thank goodness for Spotlight.

Spotlight

My line was full, after a trip to Spotlight at the weekend. Then I received a voucher in the mail for $40 off. Poo.

A Fool For Fabric

I couldn't resist these fabrics from my last trip to Spotlight. I love the flannelette with black cats, and I'm not sure about the sparkly fat quarters. The sparkles could well wash off. And I've always loved gingham, humble soul that I am. But cotton gingham isn't quite as economical as it once was.

Bulk Sewing

I'm busy sewing clothes for myself, four tops at a time, using my stash for two of them. Somehow, I would enjoy sewing clothes more, if I was built like a model. It would have to be more fun. Plus, I tend to get tired of the fabric before I get to wear the clothes.

I bought some fabric from Spotlight which has a bit of stretch in it, and I just have to decide what to make out of it. Another shirt maybe?

Reuse, Recycle

My 'puter chair was getting a bit shabby, so I made removable covers for it using an old window valance from my stash. The fabric was available about 10 years ago, and it was nice and thick. A tad quirky, but hey, carbon footprint etc.

Moon Shine Bag

While at Wells's this week, I bought some black and white fabric to make my bag. I decided I would use a bag with this colour more often. Last night I cut out the pattern pieces but discovered I don't have any size 1 piping cord. Back to the shops today I guess.

Easter Bunny, soft and white....

After reading about Debs' fabric purchase from Latrobe, I decided to head out and buy some for myself. Maybe I could make some Easter placemats, or a fabric basket for an egg display.

Nouvelles Places de Charme

I bought these charm squares at one of my favourite shops in Ulverstone. They were reduced, and the kiwi fruit pattern made me buy them. Washed and ready to iron. I love ironing new fabric.

Christening Dress

Every year I take out some sewn things I have stored, and check them for marks and so on. This christening dress has been worn only once, and unless people start baptising their babies again, may never be worn again. It was my first and only attempt at French sewing, and I have to admit, it was a lot easier than I thought. It's made from Swiss voile with entredeux trim and has a petticoat and bib to match. I also made a matching coat hanger and some fabric shoes. The only embroidery is on the petticoat front. The pattern was from Handmade 14-5 and was very easy to follow. Susie Roberts was the designer. The hardest part was collecting the bits and pieces so that they all matched, and were the same shade of white. The voile I had to get mail order. The baby is my grand-niece wearing the christening dress.

The last time I bought fabric was before Christmas, from one of my favourite shops. I particularly love the panel print with deers and rabbits.
